Why did we come to the other side of the world to love on orphans for a week?
Why did we spend so much time and money to get here?
Why did we leave our families behind to go to a foreign land?
Why don’t we just stay close to home and love on children there?
Why are we going on a mission trip if we aren’t going to evangelize?
All of these and more are questions many of us have heard as we’ve prepared for this trip. Let the photos answer some of those questions.
For one short week we loved with every ounce of energy and strength we had to give and it never seemed like enough. Not because we HAVE to, but because it brings us a great joy and we WANT to. Thus the answer to why is Babies are worth it, children are worth it and the relationships that we’ve built among new friends on the other side of the world are worth it.
Today we had a birthday party for children who don’t get to celebrate every year with gifts and cake. We took lots of pictures and we shed tears as we said goodbye to our new loves. Our hearts are heavy but overflowing with love.
Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” (Luke 6:38 NIV)
