It’s a small world

If you hang around any of us for long you will probably hear someone humming the words below, and it has nothing to do with a song we’ve chosen to sing.  The funny thing is that several times a day we will hear the loud music to this song coming throught the windows of our hotel from somewhere below. Tonight,  I learned that the music is coming from the street sweeper-not your typical music for men cleaning the streets below!

It’s a world of laughter, a world of tears

It’s a world of hopes, its a world of fear

Theres so much that we share

That its time we’re aware

it’s a small world after all

It’s a small world after all
It’s a small world after all

It’s a small world after all

It’s a small, small world

There is just one moon and one golden sun

And a smile means friendship to everyone.

Though the mountains divide

And the oceans are wide

It’s a small world after all

It’s a small world after all

The words are a reminder to everyone that this small world is one of beauty and tears, joy and fears, differences and yet many likenesses. We all may look different and eat different food, but we love the same and hurt the same.  Though the oceans divide us we have hopes and dreams just like the people we have come to serve. They have continued to serve us with such love and care and though the language may divide us we see that a smile is the same around the world.

Today, we sang songs, played with finger puppet, balloons and balls. We gathered information on sweet babies who are waiting and will hopefully be matched with a family soon. We cradled very frail babies and prayed over them, not knowing what the future may hold for them.

Tonight we ask that you pray for our sweet guide, the continued health of our group, and especially the babies who are so very frail. Many need a miracle as they wait. The Nannies do a great job with the resources they have, but they can only do so much and it will never replace the desperate need for a family.

This saying on the wall of the baby room holds such truth.   Today, they were given abundant love.
