Use Me

“If you can use anything Lord, you can use me.” These are the words to a song written by the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir and words we are seeking this week.  We are just a group of 13 crazy Americans who stand out like a sore thumb everywhere we go and cause people to stop and stare and wonder.  It is our desire to make them wonder why we have such a joy and cause them to want what we have.

This morning we flew from Beijing to our next destination where we will stay for the week.  After settling into the hotel we were quickly reminded that beds in China are not like our beds at home, fast Wi-Fi is a luxury, and turning on the tap to get a drink of water is something we certainly take for granted. We walked to the market to purchase water and other incidentals and caused many heads to turn especially with Tia’s beautiful brown skin and long braids, obviously not something they see often.

This evening we enjoyed a wonderful Chinese dinner at the  restaurant called “Best Cooking”(yes, that was the actual name). Then we strolled through town watching people at the local market and exercise class, braving our way through the streets,  and stopping to take pictures with locals who came out of their stores to see the Americans walking past.

Tonight during our devotional we focused on how God can use us tomorrow as we set out to serve Him. We were reminded of the words in I Kings 8:41-42, “As for the foreigner who does not belong to your people but has come from a distant land because of your name-for men will hear of your great name and your mighty hand and your outstretched arm….so that all the people of the earth may know your name…and may know that this house I have built bears your Name.”
